New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) Soon after Karnataka Lokayukta (ombudsman) Santhosh Hegde submitted his report indicting Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa for real estate scams and mining policy irregularities Wednesday, the Congress demanded his resignation.
"Yeddyurappa is wasting time. If he and the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) have any moral values which they profess, he should resign immediately," said Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad, who hails from Karnataka.
"The report is very clear. The Lokayukta has convincingly detailed the omissions and commissions of Yeddyurappa, who also holds mining and several other ministers," Hariprasad said.
The Congress leader recalled that Yeddyurappa had announced that he would resign if an inquiry found him guilty.
Party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said, "Yeddyurappa is the most corrupt chief minister independent India has seen".
"The resignation of Yeddyurappa is long overdue. The Lokayukta report is the last nail in the coffin," he added.
