Letter from Chennai Threatens Al Qaeda Attack on Kerala Temples

Guruvayoor (Kerala), Jul 27: The Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, from where treasure worth Rs one lac crore was recovered last month, is under threat from Al Qaeda, according to a letter received from the dreaded terror outfit here on Wednesday July 27.

The Al Qaeda has also targetted the Guruvayur Temple. Security at both temples has been heightened.

The letter was received by post from Chennai, police said.

The letter also threatened attacks on Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi in the next few days.

The letter, written in English, was addressed to the Guruvayoor circle inspector.

Bomb squads were rushed to the temples soon after its receipt.

Further investigations into the letter are on.
