50-year-old dies by suicide in Karkala over marital discord

Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (MS)

Karkala, Jul 13: Harish Shetty (50), resident of Miyaru Kuntibail and driver by profession jumped into well on Wednesday July 12 and killed himself.

It is said that Harish’s relationship with his wife was strained. His wife had gone to her parent’s house when Harish took the extreme step.

Harish who used to work as a bus as well as auto-rickshaw driver was friendly in nature. On Wednesday morning, he had been to Bajagoli auto-rickshaw parking and told his friend that he was killing himself and asked them to bring flowers and cloth to be put on his dead body.

As Harish used to say these words often, his friends did not take him seriously. Harish went home and jumped into the well in the afternoon.

Karkala police arrived on the spot and conducted a spot inspection.

Unfortunately, women testimony is considered final and binding just like is prevalent in the Gulf. Likewise, in the garb/guise of gaining sympathy, the style has now been implemented in India. Since women are considered inferior, they think that they have the moral turpitude to take advantage of this and bear grudge against their better halves. The sooner the rule is discontinued the better so that there will be a semblance between the two genders and none can take advantage over the other.

Rest in peace. Marital discords are increasing day by day. some women do not like hard work but need easy and luxurious life by demanding more and more from husband without knowing his limit of earning. In case of his failure to meet the demands they walk away or make false complaints.

William mangalore I dont know what to say.Women dont want to work hard? You are mistaken.Mostly work from women is not recognized however hard they work.Of course exceptions are there .Mostly men have to keep their spouse happy but not always trying to put them down in front of others .Same when men earn dont bring their money home but go to bars and drink full when children are hungry at home. Both sides should be accepted and recognized for the work .May his soul rest in peace.

Divorce is better than sucide, and run behind the judicial system to feed the lawyers for 10-15 years!

If divorce takes so many years and such a lot of money to feed lawyers, hindus (and Christians) should be legally allowed to pronounce TALAQ thrice and go away, leaving the wife all to herself. Talaq is more sensible; but the third time it is uttered, there should be a gap of a month

RIP! For each married woman comitting suicide two married men commit suicide in this country; most men commit suicide over false cases and marital harrasment for money and property, which in majority of the cases is done with the tacit support of the woman's parents; instead of trying to end the differences/discord arising in the marriage (which is very normal), they further ruin the relationship by interfering and acting as gaslighters!!

Many women have got the habit of running to the parent's house for every little bit of misunderstanding in the marital home; and the parents instead of making her understand and dousing the flames, add further fuel to the fire (gaslighting) by supporting and encouraging her to teach the man (husband) a lesson! Unfortunately for a man, all our rules are skewed against him!!

If there are gender neutral laws ,many problems will not arise in the first place. Property disputes, domestic violence cases, so called rape cases will reduce.

True, many times the man is cornered by the wife with full support from the inlaws who gang up (children if any are brainwashed) and put dowry harrasment and marital abuse cases which are nonbailable if I am not mistaken; the man is harrassed to such an extent that he is forced to go for out of court settlement and part with his money and property!
