Udupi: Start-up funding from govt of India to MSME Incubation Center of SMVITM granted

Udupi, Jul 15: Karthik V, assistant professor, department of mechanical engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal has received the grant assistance Rs 10.62 lac from government of India for his innovative idea titled 'Development Of Tree Delimber For Shade Trees In Coffee Plantation' under MSME Idea Hackathon 2.0 under the Incubation Component of MSME Innovative scheme GOI Assistance-Reg.

The ministry of MSME, government of India invited ideas at the national level and conducted MSME Idea Hackathon 2.0. Through the scheme, a focus is placed on fostering emerging technologies and knowledge-based innovative ventures that contribute to the global economy beyond the traditional activities of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The outstanding achievement of Karthik has been appreciated by the management, principal and staff of SMVITM.

To cut the branches of the shade trees in the coffee plantation during the monsoon and to mitigate the problems of laborers this plan implemented. The work also majorly aims at reducing the accidents that happen during the cutting of branches of these trees which puts laborers life at risk.
