Toronto, Jul 29 (IANS): Gurgaon-based Delta Power Solutions, which serves the country's major cellular service providers, including Reliance, AirTel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, has signed an agreement with Canada's Dantherm Power to sell clean energy solutions in India.
Vancouver-based Dantherm Power is a backup power systems company and part of Ballard Power Systems. Under the agreement, Delta will market clean energy fuel cell power solutions in the India telecommunications sector.
Delta, which itself is a subsidiary of the world's leading energy-saving solutions provider Delta Group, will carry out joint field trials with the Canadian company of the latter's two cell systems - direct hydrogen 2-kilowatt DBX2000 fuel cell system and 5kW DBX5000 fuel cell system - in India.
After trials, these fuel cell systems will deployed by Delta at telecom customer sites in India. The Gurgaon company will also integrate the Canadian company's site management & control system (SMCS) into its operations in India.
Delta will be responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance and management of these field deployments. It will also remotely monitor these systems after installations by its Network Operation Centre (NOC).
"This agreement represents an effective, managed approach to back-up power market development in India. Delta will leverage its existing telecom industry relationships in order to identify interested customers, and provide on-the-ground support throughout the trial period,'' said Dantherm Power chairman John Sheridan in a statement Thursday.
"On-site expertise and customer support is the key to gaining traction with solutions that are new to the market, such as fuel cells in the India telecom sector,'' the Canadian executive said.
Dalip Sharma, MD of Delta Power Solutions, said, "We are very pleased to be working with PEM (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane) fuel cell products from premier providers such as Dantherm Power and Ballard. This collaborative partnership has all the right elements for a successful evaluation of the market opportunity and for potentially large-scale product roll-out down the road."
