Mangaluru, Jul 16: Former MLC and Namma Nada Okkoota, Dakshina Kannada president K S Mohammed Masood addressed students of the Muslim community, urging them to strive for higher education and take the civil services examinations seriously. He emphasized the importance of aiming for positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other government administrative services.
Speaking at the Career Guidance and Excellence Awards Presentation function on Saturday, July 15, at the Jeppinamogaru Prestige International School auditorium, organized by Namma Nada Okkoota, DK in association with Bidar Shaheen Institution, by Masood stated that achieving success in any field requires hard work. He cited Padmashri awardee Harekala Hajappa as a role model, emphasizing his own journey from selling oranges to becoming successful through education. Masood encouraged the children of traders to pursue education in their own villages and strive for success.
Dr Mohammed Arif Masood, who also serves as the president of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts Muslim Central Committee, reminded students not to forget their own community and encouraged them to extend a helping hand. He also advised parents to guide their children and ensure they stay on the right path.
During the event, Dr Mohammed Arif Masood and Padmashree awardee Harekala Hajabba were felicitated. Hajappa humbly shared that despite receiving the Padmashri award, his life remained unchanged, and poverty continued to be a part of his journey.
Six PUC (Pre-University Course) toppers from the previous academic year and five SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) toppers were also honored, receiving shawls and mementos. In total, 252 student achievers were recognized. Social activist and career counselor Umar U H provided guidance to the students as a resource person.
Various dignitaries, including treasurer Abdul Hameed, secretary Ishaq, Udupi district president Mushtaq Ahmed, Uttara Kannada district president Inayatulla S, Ahmed Khan of Puttur Community, Bantwal unit president P A Raheem, Mangaluru unit president Razeek, trustee Khaleel Ahmed, Siddik of Kadaba Unit, Zaheer Ahmed of Kundapura unit, and KSA unit president Naseer Ahmed, were present at the event.
The program was welcomed by Hussain H, anchored by Rafiq Master and Mangaluru unit general secretary, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Basha S.
