Puttur, Jul 23: A harrowing incident occurred on Saturday when a massive tree was uprooted and crashed onto two houses at Ambedkar Colony in Kajekaru. The impact left the houses in complete devastation. However, in a miraculous twist of fate, two children who were inside one of the houses managed to escape unharmed.

On that fateful evening, the area was hit by high-velocity winds that uprooted a large jackfruit tree and a coconut tree. The trees came crashing down on the adjacent houses belonging to Sundari and Sesamma.

Fortunately, Sesamma, who lives alone, had vacated her house earlier as she felt fearful of the strong winds. Meanwhile, inside Sundari's house, her granddaughters Akshata (11) and Rakshita (10) were present, while Sundari and her daughter-in-law Meenakshi were outside the house when the tragic incident occurred. Thanks to providence, the children managed to escape without any injuries.

Both houses have suffered extensive damage, and the estimated loss is believed to be in several lacs.
