Kundapur, Jul 24: A minor bridge got washed away within a year of its construction in the incessant rains that are lashing Byndoor.

The bridge was built at a cost of Rs three lac last year at Nirodi of Taggarse village of Byndoor town panchayat. This year, in the beginning of the monsoon itself, the bridge collapsed and got washed away. This was the only way for school-going students and labourers to go to other villages from here. Now they have become helpless. Rs three lac spent on the bridge is also gone waste.

The incident has caused concern among the locals as last year a girl fell from a wooden foot-bridge and got washed away in a down river stream at Kalthodu. Locals are urging the district and panchayat administration to take quick action and provide them with a foot-bridge to avoid any untoward incident.
