Mangaluru, Jul 24: The meteorological department has issued a red alert for today and tomorrow, July 24 and 25, in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi as heavy rains continue to batter these coastal areas for the past two days.

Meanwhile, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, and Kodagu districts have been put on an orange alert, while Bagalkote, Belagavi, Havari, Kalburgi, Haveri, Hassan, and Vijayapura districts have been placed under a yellow alert.

The meteorological department has predicted that the rain will persist for the next seven days.

DC declares holiday for schools, anganwadis, PU colleges on July 24 due to heavy rains

Due to high rainfall in the district, and a possibility of high water levels in the rivers and streams Udupi deputy commissioner Dr. K Vidyakumari has ordered closure of all schools, anganwadis and undergraduate colleges in Udupi district on Tuesday, July 25.

    If administration is declaring holiday, then the schools and Colleges authorities must send SMS to all parents and students registered Mobile, so that childrens and students can stay at home, otherwise coming and going back again means they will be tottaly wet.

    When IMD has declared Rrd Alert on 24 and 25, why our administration has not declared holiday for schools and Colleges on that date.???
