New Delhi, Jul 31: It was a unique display of grit and defiance as hundreds of people descended on Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Sunday July 31 to stage what they called the 'besharmi morcha' or slutwalk.
What was special about the morcha was that even foreigners and school children were present to extend their support. Even men joined in.
The morcha was taken out in protest of sexual harassment on women and to drive home the point that a woman's attire and her conduct have nothing to do with sexual crimes.
The organisers plan to hold talks and street plays to create awareness. The Delhi slutwalk gains significance in the wake of several cases of rapes and molestations reported from the capital over the past year.
Some celebrities too were supposed to joined them.
The concept of slutwalk began in Toronto this April when hundreds of women marched in protest of a police officer's remark that women were to be blamed for rapes.
