National Maritime Foundation Gets New Chief


New Delhi, Jul 31 (IANS): Pradeep Kaushiva, a retired navy vice admiral, will take over as the new director of naval think-tank National Maritime Foundation (NMF) Monday from incumbent Commodore (retd) C. Uday Bhaskar, whose tenure ends Sunday.

During his service in the navy, Admiral Kaushiva has served as commandant of the National Defence College and flag officer commanding of the Indian Navy's eastern fleet, an NMF statement said.

The NMF is a think-tank that focuses on the maritime domain and is supported by the ministry of defence and the naval headquarters.

It was set up in February 2005 under the then defence minister Pranab Mukherjee and the present chairman of the think-tank is former navy chief Admiral (retd) Arun Prakash.

The NMF has regional chapters in Visakhapatnam and Chennai.
