Kerala woman arrested on charges of killing newborn


Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 28 (IANS): A Kerala woman was arrested on Friday on the charges of killing her newborn in Thiruvananthapuram .

According to the police, Julie, residing at Anjengo about 30 kms from the state capital, had early this month delivered a baby, killed the child and buried the body.

On July 18, things took a turn for the worse when stray dogs were seen feeding on the parts of a baby on the seashore. Seeing this, the locals alerted the police who launched a probe.

The probe team visited nearby hospitals and took out the list of newborns after which they zeroed in on Julie.

Following questioning, Julie was taken into custody and was arrested.The motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained

Julie’s husband had passed away last year. She also has a 13-year-old son.
