Mumbai, Aug 1 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities Monday closed 100 points higher amid positive global cues.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 18,352.23 points and closed at 18,297.33 points (provisional) -- up 100.13 points or 0.55 percent from its previous close at 18,197.2 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended in the green at 5,513 points, down 0.57 percent.
Broader markets, however, ended on lacklustre. The BSE midcap index closed 0.07 percent down and the BSE smallcap index ended 0.29 percent lower.
