Death toll in Krishnagiri firecracker explosion rises to seven, ten injured


Chennai, Jul 29 (IANS): Death toll in the explosion at a firecracker godown in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district on Saturday has risen to seven.

The deceased were identified as Ravi, Jayashree, Imran, Ibrahim, Rajeswari, Ruteesh, and Rutheeka.

Krishnagiri police officials told IANS that fire and rescue services department are searching for the people trapped inside.

Ten people, who were injured in the explosion, were admitted to Krishnagiri government hospital, where condition of some is stated to be critical.

Structures adjacent to the godown including a house, a welding unit, a shop, and a restaurant were reduced to rubble, and police and fire and rescue service are searching whether anyone is trapped inside.
