BJP govt looting hard-earned money of people, says Congress

New Delhi, Jul 30 (BJP): Congress on Sunday accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of ‘looting’ people instead of giving them relief from the inflation.

“People of the country are facing economic crisis due to inflation and unemployment, but the BJP government is engaged in looting their hard-earned money.

“Despite low prices of crude oil, the (Narendra) Modi government instead of giving its benefits to the public, it is profiteering by mercilessly imposing taxes on petrol and diesel,” Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh said.

He said that the government is not only earning profit, it has also given exemption to loot to its capitalist friends.

He said that in last 9 years, the BJP government has collected over Rs 32 lakh crore from the public by repeatedly increasing the taxes on petrol and diesel.

“Our demand is that the Modi government should reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by 35 per cent in line with the huge reduction in international crude oil prices and give relief to the people of the country,” Ramesh said.

The Congress has been attacking the BJP government over price rise, accusing it of failing to address the issue.
