Kundapur: Elderly rider dies on spot in moped-car collision

Kundapur, Jul 31: In an accident that occurred on Sunday July 30 evening at Kalavara near Koteshwara in the taluk, local resident and rider of bike Narasimha Shetty (75), died on the spot as his moped was hit by a car.

Narasimha Shetty entered the highway from the cross road near Koteshwar school suddenly due to which the accident occurred. The driver of car that was moving from Koteshwara to Halady immediately applied the brakes but hit the stone pillar on roadside broke it into two and hit the pillar of a roadside shrine and came to a grinding halt.

A seriously injured Narasimha was rushed to hospital but he had breathed his last. The front portion of the car was badly damaged.

A case in this connection is registered in Kundapur police station.
