Puttur, Jul 31: During the times where people owning farm land are not willing to undertake agricultural activities, Prafulla Rai of Kallimaru here has converted her terrace into a farm.

Prafulla leads a self-reliant life and thereby has realized the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prafulla has grown flower-bearing plants on the terrace of her two-storied house on an eight-cent land. She does the work related to the farm during her free time.

She has been giving more importance towards fruit-bearing plants that keep diabetes in check. Along with local fruits, even overseas fruits are grown on her terrace. More than 50 dragon fruit plants are also present.

Zobetica, peanut butter fruit, musumbi, orange, grapes, chikoo, mango, jackfruit, Ram phal, Sita phal, Hanuma Phal, lemon, egg fruit, magic fruit, blue berries, pomegranate, rambutan and litchi fruits are in Prafulla’s farm.

Prafulla says, “I used to grow vegetables and flowers on my terrace for the past 15 years. Six years ago, I thought of growing fruit plants. The result is the farm that is seen now. We grow whatever we require. We are undertaking agriculture for happiness. So far I have not sold the fruits or flowers grown here and will not do so in future also.”
