Kundapur, Aug 3: In a district-level officers meeting for Kundapur and Byndoor constituencies held at Kundapur taluk panchayat, MLA Gururaj Gantihole emphasized the need for fishermen to wear life jackets while fishing. He proposed imposing fines on fishermen who neglect this safety measure, citing a recent boat tragedy at Uppunda where two fishermen lost their lives.
MLA Kiran Kodgi highlighted the importance of having fisheries department employees stationed within the district to ensure effective functioning.
Additionally, discussions were held on the supply of eggs to anganwadi children. MLA Kodgi suggested buying eggs locally and assigning the responsibility to Bala Vikas Samithi for a more practical approach.
Addressing concerns about the shortage of veterinary doctors, MLA Gantihole called for a detailed report on unused lands in the district.
MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi noted the challenges faced by farmers, who are increasingly turning to alternative crops due to the lack of profitability in paddy cultivation.
Regarding farming subsidies and tools, the MLAs discussed the need to avoid redundant provisions to those who receive them annually. However, they were informed that data computerization and the use of QR codes make changing names infeasible.
The meeting was attended by MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Gururaj Gantihole, zilla panchayat chief executive Prasanna H, zilla panchayat chief project officer A Srinivas Rao, and taluk panchayat officer Bharati.
