Lucknow, Aug 3 (IANS): A Maoist wanted in connection with at least 15 criminal cases was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district, police said Wednesday.
Shivdas Paswan, 36, a native of Bihar's Rohtas district, was arrested late Tuesday from Kon area in Sonbhadra, about 300 km from Lucknow.
"Shivdas Paswan operated in three states - Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh," Additional Superintendent of Police Lallan Singh told reporters in Sonbhadra.
A few years ago, Paswan carried out landmine attacks in Jharkhand and blew up a police post, killing one person and leaving several injured.
According to officials, Paswan carried a bounty of Rs.12,000 in Bihar.
