Mangaluru: 'Konkan-Bharat' musical nite by Mandd Sobhann inspires patriotism, language pride

Mangaluru, Aug 8: The 260th edition of the Konkan – Bharat (Sangeet Express) program, part of Mandd Sobhann's monthly stage series, captivated the audience on August 6 at Kalangana in Shaktinagar. The event celebrated patriotism and Konkani pride.

The evening commenced with a vibrant start as Lavina - Anil Pais, a talented couple in the music field, rang the opening bell. Mandd Sobhann's esteemed office bearers, Eric Ozario, Luvi Pinto, Kishore Fernandes, and Stany Alvaris, graced the stage with their presence.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating musical performance led by Raina Sequeira. Kicking off the repertoire, Simone Monteiro paid tribute to the late Konkani singer Claud D'Souza with her own composition titled 'Sansara.' Following this heartfelt tribute, singers from diverse age groups rendered a collection of 12 exquisite songs that celebrated the Konkani language, India, unity in diversity, and the awe-inspiring nature of the human mind. These songs, composed by both seasoned and emerging songwriters, eloquently represented the rich tapestry of emotions.

The stage was graced by the melodious voices of Melvin Peris, Dr. Suraj Noronha, Dr. Aruna Noronha, Sunil Monteiro, Anil D'Cunha, Kingsley Nazreth, Joel Attur, Nestor D'Souza, Jayson Gurpur, Megha Pai, along with Ketan, Bindu, Simone, Rishal, Olinka, Melissa, Verlaine, Hayden, Velani, Mineola, Abhigel, Amika, Misha, Arvin, Aston, Neha, Joshma, Briana, Princia, Pearl, Krishal, Neil, and Meghan.

The enchanting melodies were brought to life by the musical talents of Roshan Bela (Lead Guitar), Sanjay Rodrigues (Keyboard), Vaman Bailur (Rhythm Pad), Sanjeeth Rodrigues (Drums), and Stalin D'Souza (Bass Guitar). Swedal Mendonca Kulshekar added a mesmerizing touch with her narration style.
