Mangaluru: CCB police arrest drug peddler, seize MDMA worth over Rs 2.5 lac

Mangaluru, Aug 8: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have apprehended an individual from Uppala, Kasargod, for illicitly vending Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) drugs to the public.

Acting on precise intelligence regarding the accused's drug sales activities near K C Road, Talapady village, after procuring the contraband from Bengaluru, the Mangaluru police detained Mohammed Rafik (40), a Uppala resident from Kasargod. The operation resulted in the seizure of 50 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 2,50,000, a mobile phone worth Rs 8,000, and a digital weighing scale collectively worth approximately Rs 2,68,500. With suspicions arising about the potential involvement of other drug peddlers, law enforcement has initiated a search for their whereabouts.

The arrest operation saw the dedicated participation of CCB unit ACP P A Hegde, Inspector Sham Sunder H M, PSI Rajendra B, Sudeep M V, Sharanappa Bhandary, Narendra, and other members of the CCB staff.

In a bid to cleanse Mangaluru of its drug-related woes, the police have urged the public to promptly report any information regarding drug peddlers.
