Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SS)

Mangaluru, Aug 9: A wife has filed a complaint with the police against her husband for stealing 75 grams of gold that was kept in a locker.

Renisha Noronha is the complainant and her husband Mohammed Ilyas is the accused.

Renisha was living with her husband Mohammed Ilyas and their son in the city's KPT Vyasanagar flat. At the time of their marriage, Renisha had got 25 grams of gold from her parents, 5 grams from her own earnings, 20 grams from her mother as gift and another 25 grams of gold from her husband's family totalling about 75 grams which was kept in a locker. This was known only to the couple.

In her complaint Renisha said following a quarrel with her husband she had begun to live in her mother's house since April. She said she used to visit her flat once a week. After about a month when she visited the flat and enquired with the security she was informed that her husband had not come home for a week. Suspecting some foul play, Renisha opened the locker and found the gold missing. Despite making repeated calls, her husband did not pick up or respond to her calls.

The complainant said her husband picked up her call only after three days and told her that he had indeed stolen the gold jewellery and left the place. She said in her complaint that her husband acted indifferent and told her to do whatever pleases her.

Renisha said, unable to pay interest on the gold that was pledged in a bank, she had allowed one Prabhakar to pay interest for three months. But, within three months Prabhakar said he had got the gold worth Rs 12 lac released, dissolved and sold it.

Renisha has in her complaint filed with Mangaluru CEN police has demanded action to be taken against Prabhakar and her husband and also get her gold returned.

This woman is a fraud. She is staying as a tenant in my relative's flat since 3 and half years and has take possession of the house without paying rent for last 3 years. She and her husband have troubled the owners (who stay abroad) alot and are still not leaving the house. The court case is on and it is very disheartening.

Was there no agreement made for renting the flat and registered? Also, was no police verification done? These people take advantage of the unavailability and the good intentions of the owners. Hope the police help the owners to get back their flat. As for these culprits, I wish they would go to ruin.

if Renisha has pledged gold and taken loan, bank cannot release the gold to another person ... bank can be sued for collusion with Prabhakar.

Renisha Noronha, I am not judging you. But I wish you had married a person from your community. Blind love can get a person in trouble in future.

Your comment, "I wish you had married a person from your community. Blind love can get a person in trouble in the future," kinda comes across as judgmental. Just so you know, honesty and trust aren't limited to any specific religion. There are folks all around the world who are honest, kind-hearted, and trustworthy, no matter what they believe in. So, maybe let's hold off on the lecture part, yeah? It's more about a person's character than the religion here. What really matters here is that this person broke his wife's trust and swiped her jewelry – which is definitely not okay and counts as a crime.

Jessie, what Anil might have wanted to say is that the issue could have been sorted out with the intervention of some wise elders or through religious leaders if it was from the same caste! Secondly with Prabhakar in the inner circle, with gold, this story is not so simple as one may think!!

Jesse, I respect your opinion, but I disagree with you when you said, ‘It’s more about a person’s character than the religion here.’ Religion and culture are very important factors that shape everyone’s personality. We send our children to theology classes at our church every Sunday and most of them grow up to be respected and trustworthy people. That’s because of our community culture. And according to the statistics, our community is number one in education, medical, charity and low crime rate. Jesse, I hope you can appreciate the value of our religion and culture. See the world from different perspectives.

even if we say stereotypeing, it comes with fact..most of the cases it end up like this..and girl always in receiving end..its very important to know personal laws when making choice..its effects perosnal life more than love..Courts in several judgements denied property share wife/son, considered marriage invalid based on personal laws..without UCC its a hanging sword on interfaith marriages..

Ranga, the person who is venturing into such inter religious bondings should be very well aware, and think 100× of the consequences in case things go awry!! UCC is not practicable in a culturally diverse country like ours with so many different religions, castes, cults etc; even if it comes to force, it will lead to a lot of resistance and complications!!

They say marriage is the flower that turns from sweet smell to other smells soon... It is the other smells that a marriage has to sustain which is rarely the case in such sajiige bajil marriages... Temporary attraction in youthful days attract people to each other and results in a marriage of sorts... However as times lapses respect for each other dwindles in most cases... Lucky the guy only stole the ornaments and spared her life... Nowadays we hear lot other stories...
