Mangaluru: Man fleeing trial date apprehended, presented before court

Mangaluru, Aug 9: A man who had been eluding court hearings was apprehended by the police city police.

The accused Vikhyat, also known as Vicky Bappal (29), son of Sridhar, a resident of Devi Krupa Nilaya, 3rd Cross Road, Jeppu Bappal was apprehended and presented before the JMFC 3rd Court. The move comes after he absconded, failing to appear before the court on the scheduled trial date for case number CC.1304/2020, pertaining to Urwa Police Station CR.51/2019 under sections 143, 147, 148, 323, 326, 307 r/w 149 of the Indian Penal Code.

Vicky Bappal had managed to secure bail in the Urwa case. He is embroiled in approximately 11 other cases across various police stations in Mangaluru.

The Pandeshwar police station to had filed a case that led to his detention. The PDJ Court subsequently ordered a 14-day judicial custody for the accused in connection with this case.
