Karkala: Four arrested for illegally transporting cattle

Karkala, Aug 10: The rural police have taken four individuals into custody on charges of unauthorized cow transportation.

The arrested have been identified as Jagannatha Shetty (58) and Prasad Poojary (23), both residents of Shirlalu village, as well as Jabbar (24) and Hyder Ali (26), residents of Farangipete in Bantwal.

The accused were apprehended while transporting the cattle from Kervashe on the morning of August 7. Acting on information provided by activists of a Hindu organization, the police pursued the vehicle. The suspects abandoned the vehicle in Bajagoli and fled the scene, but were subsequently apprehended by the police.
