Mangaluru: Dry ganja worth over Rs 3 lac recovered under operation 'Narcos'

Mangaluru, Aug 10: In a commendable feat under operation 'NARCOS', law enforcement authorities have made a significant stride with the successful seizure of 6.333 kgs of dry ganja, valued at Rs 3,16,650.

The operation was carried out jointly by the CIB/RPF teams of Palakkad, RPF/Mangaluru Junction and Mangaluru East Excise Division on Thursday August 10 at approximately 11:15 AM, at the city railway junction, specifically on platform no 2 from train no 16516 (Karwar-Yeshwantpur Express).

While the successful operation resulted in the recovery of the contraband, no information regarding the identity and address of the accused has been disclosed. A case has been duly registered by the Sub-Inspector of Mangaluru East Excise Division under Post Crime No. 07/2023-24/15SIE/150208, Sections 20(b)(ii)(B), 25, and 8(c) of the NDPS Act 1985.

The seizure was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the following staff members N Kesavadas, CI/CIB/PGT; Manojkumar Yadav, PI, Mangaluru Junction; Deepak A P, SI/CIB/PGT; A P Ajith Ashok, SI/CIB/PGT; Saju K, ASI/CIB/PGT; S M Ravi, ASI/CIB/PGT; K Sasi, ASI, Mangaluru Junction; N Ashok, HC/CIB/PGT; Ajeesh O K, HC/CIB/PGT and T Pandurang, constable, Mangaluru Junction.

    Mangalore cops are only capable of apprehending childish stuff like ganja and bhaang. No capability and competency when it comes to real drugs. No competency to catch the drug network too. Catching only only small time dealers and students who smoke.
