Krishna fumbles in house, booed by opposition

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Thursday became a target of the opposition in the Lok Sabha after he fumbled with papers when he was asked to lay a statement on Sri Lanka on the table of the house.

Speaker Meira Kumar called Krishna in the house to lay the statement, but Krishna, for a moment, was unable to find the relevant statement and fumbled among the clutch of papers in his hand, leading to the members from the opposition benches booing him.

Some members of the opposition shouted "shame, shame".

As he later started reading out the statement, Meira Kumar had to intervene and come to the minister's rescue. She prompted him to just lay the statement on the table of the house, which Krishna did.

In February this year, while at the United Nations, Krishna read out the speech of the Portuguese minister and only realised it when he was halfway through.
