Mangaluru, Aug 11: The husband of a pregnant woman complained that five eggs supplied by anganwadi here at Kavoor were rotten.
The man said, “In the last month out of the 25 eggs supplied by the anganwadi, 21 were rotten. My wife got sick after eating the omelette made from these eggs. She was in the hospital for four days. Now she has recovered. Our relative also fell sick after eating the eggs supplied by the Anganwadi.”
“We dream a lot about the child that is going to be born. We are scared now to eat the eggs supplied by anganwadi. We have said that if this kind of eggs are supplied, we do not need the eggs at all,” he said.
MLA Dr Bharat Shetty urged to take action against the contractor and concerned people who supply eggs to Anganwadi.
Papa Bowi, deputy director of women and children development department said, “I got information about a pregnant woman and boy falling sick. I have asked the officials to visit the anganwadi and get information.”
