Bommai claims Rahul Gandhi isn’t intervening in clearing contractors’ bills

Bengaluru, Aug 11: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is not intervening in the demand of the contractors for payment of their pending bills as he is obligated to the "ATM Government" of Siddaramaiah.

The BJP leader clarified that he has "no faith in Rahul Gandhi’s leadership" and explained that he merely voiced the demand of the contractors over their pending bills.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, he declared that the party will launch a legal and a political battle against the corruption of the Congress government.

Bommai accused Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of trying to divert attention over the non-payment of bills during the last three years and claimed that his government had released Rs 650 crore in March. "Why is the government holding up that money," he asked and demanded that the government should release payments towards pending bills of contractors.

The BJP leader wondered why State Contractors Association President Kempanna has now changed his tune and has given a clean chit to the minister. He wanted to know if political pressure has been applied on Kempanna.

Bommai said the people demand works of their choice and to meet their demands. If it is not done, the Brand Bengaluru campaign would not work.

The State Government has collected property tax revenue by the BBMP and must now direct the civic body to clear the pending bills.

In Chitradurga a fake billing scam in the water supply to a remote village was exposed, but still no action initiated against the culprits! Already six innocent people have died by drinking contaminated water supplied from this tank; these rogues should be charged with murder of innocents because of their corrupt actions!

Why should Rahul Gandhi interfere with contract signed between you and contractors?. Investigation will reveal who is guilty and who have to pay contractors bills. Congress has nothing to do with the agreement between you and the contractors. If the money is there as per the work order issued by you and per your contract, congress will do the payment if the work is completed as per contract rules.

Wonderful to hear that Bommai had faith in Rahul Gandhl's leadership before today!! By the way why Should Rahul Gandhi intervene? He is only a political leader. We have a very capable CM and DCM to handle the state matters. About the contractors bills no bills should be paid without inspecting and verifying the jobs done and more importantly the quality of work> If its substandard they should be asked to redo and fined for delays and hardships for common people.Just see the digging and redigging without any safety concerns. All bills when paid should be paid 40% less as they themselves had claimed they had to pay 40% to previous govt. For that 40% they can sue the previous ministers in charge. If the contractors protest, disregard them there will be plenty more better professional contractors who will be ready if there is incorrupt govt.
