Udupi, Aug 12: MLA Yashpal Suvarna was re-elected unanimously as the president of the administrative board of Mahalaxmi Co-operative Bank Limited of Udupi.
All the directors were also re-elected unanimously for five year period of 2023-28. Vasudeva Salian is re-elected as the vice president, while K Sanjeeva Sriyan, Venkataramana Kidiyoor, Shashikanta, Shobendra, Vinaya, Narayana, Rama, Sadananda, Vanaja and Manoj were re-elected as directors.
The bank is doing business through the eight branches in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada. In the fiscal 2022-23 bank made business of Rs 9464 crore and has given 18% dividend to members for the past 14 years.
Yashpal Suvarna served the bank as director from 2008 and got elected as president in 2018. He is conferred with Sahakara Ratna award in 2022 for his achievement in the cooperative sector. He is the president of cooperative fish selling federation also.
Yashpal Suvarna is also the national chief secretary of backward community morcha of the BJP.
