Kundapura, Aug 13: "Our country was partitioned at 12 midnight on August 14, 1947. Nehru then said it was inevitable for the country to divide due to some irritating elements. But the irritation caused by the partition exists even today. Pakistan has been annoying the whole world for the past 76 years. Pakistan is a land that exports terrorists to the world. They don't want peace. What they want is unrest", said RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.
He was addressing a gathering near Shastri Circle on Saturday night at Kundapura town held under the auspices of Vishwa Hindu Parishad - Bajrang Dal Kundapura unit and Vadera hobali as part of Akhand Bharatha Sankalpa Day after holding a torch rally on the occasion.
"As the feeling towards the country died in some of its leaders of that time, India which was intact became divided. Bharat Jodo is now being done for promotion. Where is Bharat Jodo? Congressmen talk about a divided Pakistan. He goes to America and insults India's democracy. We are in such a dangerous, confusing situation. But if there are mothers in the world who fought for the country, it is only India. Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, Abakka of Ullal and hundreds of such brave women are found in our history books. There are thousands of such stories in the history of India's struggle to attain independence," he said.
Former soldier Ravichandra Shetty also spoke. Sangha convenor Satishchandra Kalavarkar, Vishwa Hindu Parishad - Bajrang Dal Zilla chief Surendra Markodu, Taluk chief Sudhir Merdi and others were also present.
Procession
Before the programme, a torch rally was held from Hunsekatte's Nagayakshi Bobbarya Temple to Kundapura. Thousands of people participated in the procession.
