Woman gets back phone with dead son's messages

Beijing, Aug 5 (IANS) A woman got back her lost mobile phone that contained the last voice messages of her son who died of cancer, thanks to an internet campaign in China. One of the messages said: "Mom, don't cry. I love you".

Police in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region traced the phone following tip-offs from microbloggers.

The phone belonged to Wang Guolan, whose 19-year-old son Cheng died last year, the Shanghai Daily reported citing the Shanghai Evening Post.

The phone was a "spiritual support" for Wang since it contained Cheng's messages.

The voice messages included "Mom, do you miss me?" and "Mom, don't cry. I love you".

Police found the man who said he had picked up the phone on the street.

When police handed the phone back to her, Wang broke down and said her son had come back.
