Bantwal, Aug 14: A poignant incident unfolded as a young artist, grappling with the weight of unemployment and sickness, tragically took his own life by leaping into a well in the Mittamajalu area of Sajipamooda village in the taluk.

Sagar Acharya (26), a talented painter, met this unfortunate end, choosing to jump into the well located within the veranda of his home on a fateful Monday morning.

While the exact reasons behind this heart-wrenching decision remain elusive, his friends and neighbors have indicated that Sagar was overwhelmed by the dual burdens of deteriorating health and joblessness, leading him to express his struggle to find meaning in life.

Sagar was known for his exceptional prowess as a painter. Two years ago, he was engaged as an outsourced artist at the CDPO office in B C Road. However, his lifelong battle with kidney issues escalated, eventually forcing him to relinquish his job and confine himself to his home.

Compelled to undergo weekly dialysis sessions, Sagar's plight was intensified by the failure of both his kidneys, leading his father to selflessly donate one of his own kidneys to save his son's life. Following the surgery, Sagar's father was rendered unable to work for a period of time, further exacerbating the family's already delicate circumstances, as his mother also fell ill around the same time.

The entire Acharya family was beset by illnesses, leaving them not only struggling to make ends meet but also grappling with the costs of medical treatments. On numerous occasions, Sagar reportedly shared these challenges with his friends. The media brought attention to his kidney condition, attempting to garner support for Sagar's predicament. However, the weight of life's hardships became insurmountable for Sagar, leading him to tragically end his own life, as recounted by local residents.

In a harrowing rescue operation, Bantwal's fire service personnel managed to retrieve Sagar's lifeless body from the 30-foot-deep well. Currently, his remains rest at the Bantwal government hospital pending a post-mortem examination.

Very sad .Whole family struggled and last noone was there to help them and lost hopes and lost lives .What a sad thing. He was a Painter?May be something in his painting or related to it had some poisonous minerals that caused kidney ailments?Otherwise I cant understand so young and normally not liable to diseases. But God knows what happend .Or during Corona was sick?May God give him eternal peace. Now what brings Post martum?More burden to family? He will not come back.Does one have to pay for the Post martum or free.?Heartfelt sympathy to his family. We celebrate,we some give lot of money to drugs ,Partys, unnecessary big partys ,but such familys where most need is there no money is given out.Noone knew this.

RIP bro! Very unfortunate end to a very talented youngster; they say; when misfortune comes, it comes in waves! It's a pity that despite publicity of his dilemma, no person, wealthy religious places, or philanthropic organization came forward to support him; nobody walks the talk unless there is something in that! It has to be noted here that many youngsters here are falling prey to end stage renal disease without having any risk factors, which seems very unusual; it's high time some organization studies this and finds the reasons for this life threatening problem; drinking unprocessed deep borewell water, which is contaminated with heavy metals, fluoride, nitrates etc may be the biggest contributory factor for kidney problems in my opinion!
