Alter boys feast celebrated at corpus Christi Church, Moodbidri

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 14: Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri celebrated the Altar Boys Feast on August 13,  with a participation of 74 children aged between 8 to 15 years. The event began with a solemn eucharist celebration, during which all the children paid homage to their patron saint, St John Berchmans, by presenting rose flowers. Throughout the holy mass, the children conducted the liturgy with devotion and actively participated.

Following the homily Fr Onil DSouza, the spiritual director, blessed those children who expressed interest in serving as altar boys and girls. A total of 10 boys and 5 girls were chosen. Fr Onil also led them in prayers and guided them through the recitation of the oath dedicated to their role as altar servers. Additionally, instructional books were provided to aid them in their service.

Fr Onil emphasized that through their involvement in the eucharist celebration and altar service, the children could draw closer to Jesus and lead lives that are pleasing to him, reflecting his love. The service concluded with a heartfelt hymn dedicated to St John Berchmans, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

The altar boys feast at Corpus Christi Church not only provided a platform for the children to actively engage in their faith but also encouraged them to deepen their connection with Jesus through service. Under the guidance of Fr Onil DSouza, this event served as a remarkable opportunity for young minds to foster spiritual growth and experience the joy of sharing god's love with their community.
