Beltangady: One arrested over illegal trafficking of cattle

Beltangady, Aug 15: Police at Charmady check post found out illegal trafficking of cattle in a pick-up. While the driver was arrested, main accused managed to escape.

The vehicle was confiscated and three cattle were rescued in the operation.

The arrested accused is Padmesh (41), a resident oif Koodahalli of Moodigere taluk. The main accused Hamid, a resident of Salethur escaped from the spot.

The pick-up which arrived at high speed near the check post, was stopped by the police. On checking three cattle were found in the vehicle without any permit. On inquiry, it came to light that the cattle was being taken for slaughter.

A case in this connection is filed in Dharmasthala police station.
