Dubai, Aug 15: Girish Shetty, the cherished patron and former president of Karnataka Sangha Dubai, breathed his last here on Tuesday, August 15.

Shetty's demise marks a profound loss for the community, as he had been a dedicated and influential figure within the association.

Late Girish Shetty had served as the president of Karnataka Sangha Dubai from 2012 to 2022, leading the association with unwavering dedication and fervor. Under his leadership, the community thrived, with a series of successful mega events that showcased the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. His enthusiastic participation in various cultural activities had inspired fellow members to actively engage with the Karnataka Sangha Dubai.

In January this year, Girish Shetty had assumed the role of patron for Karnataka Sangha Dubai, a position he held during the association's recent relaunch. His guidance and wisdom had left an indelible mark on all Kannadigas in the UAE.

Beyond his involvement with Karnataka Sangha Dubai, Girish Shetty was a prominent member of the UAE Tulu Koota, lending his full support to the organization's events and activities. He was also a founding member of Yaksha Mitraru Dubai, where he played a vital role in supporting the team's endeavors. Notably, he had contributed significantly to organizing major Yakshagaana events in Dubai, showcasing the traditional art form to the broader community.

The legacy of Girish Shetty's contributions to the UAE Kannadiga community and Karnataka Sangha Dubai will forever be cherished.

The Karnataka Sangha Dubai community along with its executive committee members have extended their condolences.
