Kasargod, Aug 6: Rehana (19), a teacher of Chervathur Arabic College, was knocked down by a speeding train at Trikaripur near here, while she was crossing the railway tracks. The incident occurred at around 9 am on Friday August 5. She was the daughter of K Abdulla, Khateeb of Pekkod mosque, and Mariamma.

It is gathered that as usual, Rehana was crossing the railway tracks to reach the bus stop for catching a bus to her college. After the Kannur-Mangalore passenger train moved away, she started crossing the tracks. But the Egmore Express which immediately came on the adjacent track claimed her life. Apparently, Rehana could not see the oncoming train or hear its sound because of heavy rain.

The fire brigade personnel took the body to Pariyaram Hospital for post mortem. Rehana had bagged a job in the Arabic College only a week back.
