CCB nabs four MDMA peddlers under 'Operation Drugs Free Mangaluru'

Mangaluru, Aug 15: In a bid to eradicate drug-related activities from Mangaluru, the City Crime Branch (CCB) has apprehended four individuals involved in the sale of MDMA (Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine), a synthetic drug. The arrests were carried out through two separate operations conducted at the Mangaluru North Police Station and Kankanady police station under the Commissionerate.

Case 1

Acting on a tip-off, the CCB, under the leadership of P A Hegde, ACP of the Mangaluru CCB unit, nabbed three accused who were reportedly selling MDMA accrued from Bengaluru in the Falnir area of Mangaluru North police station.

The accused are Mohammad Hanif AN (47), residing at Sahira Manzil, Ballanagod Road, Udyavara, Manjeshwar, Kasargod District, Kerala; Syed Faujan (30), residing at Ballanagod House, Udyavara, Manjeshwar, Kasargod District, Kerala and Sirajuddin Abubakar (35), residing at Maimuna Manzil, Kanwatheertha Gate, Kunjathur Post, Manjeshwar, Kasargod District, Kerala.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 100 grams of MDMA, worth Rs 5,00,000, along with Rs 4000 in cash, a Maruti Swift car, three mobile phones, and a digital weight scale. The combined value of the confiscated assets is estimated to be Rs 10,94,500. The accused have been booked under a case registered at the Mangaluru North police station.

Case 2

In another operation, the Mangaluru CCB acted on information about an individual involved in the sale of illegal MDMA near Kankanady railway station road in Alape village.

The apprehended accused is Ibrahim Arshad V K (30), residing at Aisha Manzeel, Dhumarakadu, Minja Panchayat, Miyapadavu, Manjeshwar, Kasargod, Kerala.

Ibrahim Arshad was found in possession of 100 grams of MDMA, worth Rs 5,00,000, along with Rs. 1000 in cash, a mobile phone, and a digital weight scale. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at Rs 5,11,500.

A case has been registered against him at the Kankanady police station.

The CCB continues its efforts to uncover further connections in this drug network. Additional cases involving the accused Ibrahim Harshad have been registered at the Puttur Nagar Police Station in relation to the transportation of 175 kg of ganja. Additionally, two cases of assault are registered at the Manjeshwar Police Station in the Kasargod district of Kerala, along with a case of assault at the Kumble Police Station.

The operation's success is credited to the diligent efforts of ACP P A Hegde, Inspector Shyam Sundar H M, PSI Narendra, Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep M V, ASI Mohan K V, and the dedicated CCB staff.
