Goa: Covid warrior lady doctor dies on duty


Panaji, Aug 17 (IANS): A frontline corona warrior, young lady Doctor, attached to government health center at Shiroda in South Goa, suddenly passed away on Tuesday while on duty.

She was 38 years-old.

Health Minister Vushwajit Rane has directed an investigation to know the cause of death.

 

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Akshaya Pawaskar, a young medical officer who collapsed while on duty. It is sad to learn that she was a dedicated and hardworking doctor who managed the Shiroda COVID hospital during the challenging times of the pandemic,” Rane said.

“We will further investigate to learn the underlying cause. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family during this difficult time. We have lost a good doctor,” he said.

Shivanand Bandekar, dean of Goa Medical College, speaking to IANS said that a postmortem has been conducted.

Sources said that the cause of death is presently non-conclusive.
