Lucknow, Aug 6: Uttar Pradesh’s politics reached another nadir when leader of opposition and senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav dared Chief Minister Mayawati to come out clean leveling indecent charges.
Shivpal while addressing the newsmen over joining of three more MLAs to his party got infuriated when questions were raised over the sexual exploitation charges over one MLA Bhagwan Sharma aka Guddu Pandit who joined SP from BSP on Saturday. “Sexual exploitation charges were leveled against me also. I am ready for any probe, I have so much courage to face the inquiry,” said Shivpal defending Guddu Pandit. Continuing his tirade, he remarked: “When I am ready to face any probe those who write Kumari before their name should also come out clean in these cases.” In UP, CM Mayawati is addressed as Bahen Kumari Mayawati by her admirers and party workers.
Two years ago, Bhagwan Sharma, a MLA from Dibai Bulandshaher was put behind bars after a girl Sheetal accused her of sexual exploitation and alleged marriage. The case however could not stand in the court and Sharma was absolved of charges. “There is no such charge against me, it was a conspiracy hatched by my political adversaries. You can contact the girl also and she does not know me even. The court has also acquitted me and I have now joined Mulayam’s party. The result will be in coming elections when the ruling BSP will be routed from Bulandshaher,” claimed Sharma.
He also offered several documents in favour of his innocence and the court’s order. Shivpal was asked to comment over these charges which infuriated him resulting in a statement which may trigger a war of words between the two parties.
Meanwhile, two other BJP MLAs Yashwant Rao Chauhan from Sikandararao, Hathras and Rajendra Singh from Fatehabad, Agra too joined the SP on Saturday. Another former MLA from BJP Gomti Yadav was also admitted to partyfold. All the new entrants were rewarded with tickets from their respective seats while Gomti was adjusted from Bakshi Ka Talab segment in Lucknow. Several other leaders including former minister Kishan Singh Baghel and hordes of others joined SP. The move is a reply given by the SP to its arch rival BSP over the ongoing game of poaching each other’s legislators.
All the leaders decried the CM Mayawati for her fetish towards her dream projects thus draining public money. It seems the stage is set for a verbal duel between the two parties in coming days.
