Kundapur, Aug 17: Amparu Dinakara Shetty, a teacher at the government higher primary school Anagally and president of Udupi district government employees’ association, was suspended from duty for not reporting to work without taking prior permission for a long time. Head teacher of the same school, Janardhana Patagar was also suspended for not bringing the long unauthorised absence of Amparu Dinakara Shetty to the notice of the higher authorities.

The suspension order of both was sent by Ganapati, deputy director of school education of Udupi district.

Locals of Anagally raised a complaint with the education department that the students of Anagally government school are deprived of proper education as Amparu Dinakar Shetty, teacher of the school, is not reporting to work since a long time. Based on the complaint, the zonal education officer visited the school and found that the teacher was not at school. In the attendance register, his absence was not marked. The matter was not reported to higher authorities too. Hence, both the teacher and head teacher are suspended by the block education officer.

Taking advantage of the situation will not work for a long time... If one is not able to perform the duties against the salaries he receives best is to resign and allow other deserving people to serve the students... Head teacher must be afraid of the Shetra Sittu... if at all the head teacher had taken the classes of Shetru people may not have complained...
