Mysuru, Aug 17: In a shocking revelation that has come to light through chemical analysis, a stock of Kingfisher beer was found unfit for consumption. Senior officer of the excise department disclosed on Wednesday that Rs 25 crore worth two main brands of the company were confiscated by the excise department.
Mysuru rural excise deputy commissioner A Ravishankar informed the matter to the press. He also said that the department has taken action to destroy the affected stock of beer.
Sediment was found in batch number 7c and 7e of Kingfisher Ultra Lager beer that was bottled in 2023 at Nanjangud unit of United Breweries Limited.
Ravishankar said, “Sediment is found in the beer that was bottled in Nanjangud unit of United Breweries. As many as 78768 boxes of beer are withheld. An FIR is also filed for producing inferior quality of beer. The stock is withdrawn from retail sale also. The in-house chemist report says that this beer is not fit for human consumption. Based on this report, a corrective action is taken.”
