Lucknow, Aug 17 (IANS): Samajwadi Party national general secretary Shivpal Yadav on Thursday said a special law is being enacted with regards to management of elections by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre to "influence" elections.
"The concept of socialism is being corrupted along with the Constitution and democracy and efforts are being made to influence the elections by enacting special laws on the process of election management," he said at a party meeting.
The comment is apparently in reference to the Centre’s move to vest authority of appointing the chief election commissioner with a three-member committee comprising the PM, leader of opposition and a senior member of the Union cabinet.
Shivpal further said, "The situation of Uttar Pradesh is becoming worse under the BJP government. The people of Gujarat are being brought here. All big contracts are being given to them. Development work has come to a standstill."
He further said that the youths are not getting employment.
"The farmers and traders are upset. Crime is at its peak. We have to make the Samajwadi Party win by uniting in 2024 to get rid of the BJP," he said.
