Mangaluru: Man arrested for attempt to murder liquor seller

Mangaluru, Aug 20: A man has been arrested by the police on charges of attempting to murder another individual on a footpath in front of a convenience store near the service bus stand in the city on August 18.

The arrested individual is Mohammed Hanif, also known as Chaku (30), a resident near Ammu Bakery, Naidu Nagar, Kurimandi Kesru, Mysuru.

According to the details, at around 10:15 pm on August 18, Eerappa Kuri, also known as Veeresh, asked the accused Hanif to settle his outstanding liquor bill. In response, Hanif became agitated and attacked Veeresh, slashing his left hand and neck with a folding blade.

Additionally, Hanif allegedly threatened Veeresh's life.

A case related to this incident has been registered at the South Police Station in the city. PSI Jyoti apprehended Hanif and presented him before the court. Subsequently, he has been remanded to judicial custody.
