Sullia: Bribe for NOC - Village accountant arrested by Lokayukta

Sullia, Aug 20: A village accountant) who was allegedly seeking a bribe in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) related to the Regional Transport Corporation (RTC) matter was apprehended by the Lokayukta police on Saturday.

The accused, Miyasaab Mulla, served as the VA for Arantodu village and is a resident of Vijayapura.

The incident unfolded when Hariprasad Adthale submitted an application for an NOC concerning the land allocated to him under the Akrama Sakrama scheme in Arantodu village. The accused, Mulla, reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 8000. He had already received Rs 3000 as the initial installment. Subsequently, as he was in the process of accepting an additional Rs 5000 from Hariprasad within the premises of the revenue inspector's office, the Lokayukta police intervened and caught him in the act.

Hariprasad had lodged a formal complaint with the Lokayukta police two days prior to the operation. A spot inspection was conducted at the revenue inspector's office, leading to the arrest of the accused. The arrested individual has been handed over to the court for further proceedings.

The operation involved the participation of various officials, including Lokayukta SP Simon, DySPs Kalavati and Cheluvaraju, track laying officer Amarullah, as well as officials Mahesh, Vinayaka, Vaishali, and Rajappa.
