Mangaluru: St Agnes College celebrates 'Konkani Manyatha Diwas'

Mangaluru, Aug 20: St Agnes College (Autonomous) celebrated 'Konkani Manyatha Diwas' on August 18. The event was inaugurated by the editor of 'Raknno—Weekly,' Fr Rupesh Madtha, who emphasized the importance of using Konkani in daily life.

Roy Castelino, the former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy, graced the event as the chief guest. He spoke about how the Konkani language has been passed down through different generations and encouraged its use in daily life to preserve it for the future.

The programme was presided over by college principal Sr Dr Venissa AC, who congratulated the Konkani Sangh for their various Konkani activities in the past year. The Konkani Sangh 'Ghumta' team performed the 'Ghumta' song, adding cultural vibrancy to the event.

Konkani Sangh coordinator Elson Hirgan, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, while the secretary, Glenita D'Sa, proposed the vote of thanks. Sr Valentina compered the programme.
