Mangaluru: Attempt to break open ATM in Surathkal – Accused arrested

Mangaluru, Aug 21: Four inter-district thieves were arrested by city police who attempted to break into an ATM using an excavator in Surathkal on Monday August 21.

The arrested are identified as Devraj (24), Bharath H (20), Nagraj Naik (21) and Dhanraj Naik (22), all from Shivamogga, who helped the other three accused financially.

The police seized two-wheeler and two mobile phones from the four worth Rs 50,000. Cases under IPC section 457, 380, 511 were filed against them.

Devraj Naik and Nagraj Naik have two cases against them at Shikaripura town and rural police stations.

The accused also confessed that they had attempted to break open the ATM using an excavator in Shivamogga under Vinobha Nagar police station limits on August 26.

The accused had stolen the excavator which was parked on Padubidri-Karkala road on August 4 midnight which was later used for ATM theft in Surathkal.
