Mangaluru: Cancellation of NEP detrimental for future of children - MLA Vedavyas Kamath

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 21: MLA of Mangaluru south legislative constituency Vedavyas Kamath said that cancellation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Karnataka is detrimental to the future of children as well as to the federal status of India.

Kamath further said, “The union government formed the NEP with the aim to bring reforms in the educational system of the country. After gathering expert opinion, the policy was formed. The state government’s decision of cancellation of the NEP will have adverse effect on the education system.

“Education should be the symbol of progress. It should not be used for political game. It is clear that the stand taken by the Karnataka government is against the reform. It is not right to play with the future of children for the reason of politics.

“The NEP was formed in order to change the British time education system that is prevailing in our country. However, the state of mind of the Congress is still with the British. They want the children of India to get educated in the same system. Cancellation of the NEP is like cheating our children. Hence, the NEP should not be cancelled at any cost,” he said.

Dear Minister, English language is a gift from British people. They were lazy to learn our Hindi. Instead they taught us English through which we Indians gathered with the help of then leading leaders like Gandhiji, SVP, etc. and kicked them out. To travel from one state to another, to travel internationally, one must speak or understand English. If one write a cash deposit slip in Kannada in any bank in Mangalore, the clerk from U.P. in Mangalore branch can not understand whereas in English is different. Parents wish to send their children to English medium schools by paying very high price. Send children to study abroad, Then how can you say ....... . Is it time pass ? or you want to get popularity ? Do some good job without expressing.

Prominent leaders and actors with saffron affiliations opt for British schools and universities for their children's education and are send abroad. Surprisingly, never know, this politician might have his family member studying in London, expresses opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP). The ones adversely affected are the children of the middle-class and lower-class families who find themselves caught in the middle of these politicians' policies, facing circumstances akin to being sandwiched. It's noteworthy to acknowledge their boldness and unreserved candor when discussing these issues, especially considering their contrasting behavior in contexts where they are expected to communicate cautiously.

NEP is a disaster, the government gave power to schools to give honour degree but without setting any guidelines. Many degree colleges are struggling to provide 3 year degree in this country. There are lectures shortage in most colleges.
