Mangaluru: ICYM Neermarga unit organises ‘Yuva Sangam 2K23’

Mangaluru, Aug 21: The ICYM Neermarga unit organized ‘Yuva Sangam 2K23’ programme for the youth of St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga on Sunday August 20 at St Joseph Kala Bhavan, Neermarga.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song led by ICYM members.

Parish priest Fr Paul Pinto, Parish Pastoral Council vice president Francis Gonsalves, PPC secretary Zita Usha Fernandes, ICYM animators Prasad Vas and Cleona D’Souza, ICYM city deanery president Ashton D’Souza and ICYM Neermarga unit president Jeshma Saldanha were the dignitaries on the dais.

The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by affixing 'Yuva Sangam' alphabets on the vibrant display board.

Francis Gonsalves addressed the youth to be active, dynamic and to keep themselves away from the evils of substance abuse and drugs menace. Fr Pinto, in his presidential speech, called upon youths to be united and work towards the betterment of the society.

Further Fr Paul Pinto felicitated ICYM city deanery president Ashton D’Souza who is also a parishioner of Neermarga. Sunil Periera, the animator of the past 6 years in ICYM was also felicitated.

Various games and dance performances were conducted by ICYM members for the youths present at the event.

ICYM member Arvin D’Souza introduced the resource person, Jennifer Carlo, Jennifer Carlo delivered insightful knowledge about the resilience and mental health of youth. ICYM Mangalore diocese president - Mithesh D’Souza, secretary - Wilma Lobo, and other council members were present at the event.

ICYM president Jeshma Saldanha welcomed the gathering. Ocheal Serrao proposed the vote of thanks. Alvita D’Souza compered the programme. The event ended with a baila performance.
