Patna, Aug 22 (IANS): Since formation of Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, speculations are rife that RJD chief Lalu Prasad and JD(U) chairperson Nitish Kumar have struck a deal to make Tejashwi Yadav chief minister after which the two senior leaders will work to take on the BJP at the Centre.
Interacting with media persons in Gopalganj, Lalu Prasad said, "The workers of RJD want Tejashwi to become chief minister of Bihar. I also want to see him as a chief minister but our goal at the moment is different. We want to remove BJP from power at the Centre, and hence I and Nitish Ji came together."
"There is no deal between us to make Tejashwi Bihar chief minister," he claimed.
Lalu Prasad, along with his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi, reached his home district Gopalganj after seven years.
Disappointed with the formation of the Mahagathbandhan government in the state in alliance with the RJD, Upendra Kushwaha resigned from JD(U) and formed his own political party Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD). Meena Singh is another leader and two time MP who left JD(U) over the same issue.
