Bangalore, Aug 8: The Bangalore police on Saturday August 6 busted a mass copying racket at a private medical college on Shampura Main Road.
The police were tipped off about a possible malpractice at the examination conducted at Ambedkar Medical College.
The City Crime Branch police arrested 13 persons including staff and 11 third year nursing students on charges of supplying answer scripts to students appearing for second year nursing examination.
The Karnataka State Nursing Council was conducting nursing diploma examination. The second year nursing students were scheduled to write mental health and psychiatric nursing paper on Saturday.
Once the examination began, answers were copied from text books and guide books and were later distributed to students near the college campus. The accused had prepared answers in small chits and they had plans to send it to students writing the papers. It is learnt that they got hold of the questions with the help of an attendee of the college, Lakshman Murthy.
The senior students accused were helping out the juniors on the condition that they too would in turn help them in their papers.
11 mobile phones and answer scripts have been seized from the arrested.
